The España-STREB Trapeze Academy
The STREB-España collaboration began in 1998 when Elizabeth Streb joined forces with Noe and Ivan Espana to create new work which explored their mutual fascination with the possibilities of human flight. Since then, this relationship has taken technical experimentation and innovation to a new level.
Noe and Ivan Españas' contribution to STREB and SLAM can be seen in their custom-designed trapeze rig, the specialized hardware and rigging mechanisms they've invented which are at the core of many of Elizabeth's choreographic explorations and the inspiration and entre they've provided into new worlds of action possibilities.
"For Noe and Ivan, taking flight is an essential element in all of their work. I have learned a great deal from them as we experimented collaboratively on works which explore the concept of vertical flight. Noe and Ivan understand, in an essential, almost instinctual way, how machinery and man can interface to push the boundaries of human physicality. It is with them, as inventors, engineers, advisors and directors, that I envision approaching a realistic way to convey lateral flight -a considerably more difficult to approach domain -on the stage."(Elizabeth Streb)
All participants are evaluated individually, and are taught at their own pace by our trained instructors. For more experienced flyers, the ESPAÑA/STREB TRAPEZE ACADEMY allows you to work more intensively on specific tricks –or to master the ones you know, and learn the ones you dream of doing. Our team of instructors can help you achieve your individual goals by giving you tips and techniques to improve your form and personal style.
Safety is our number one priority. Everyone wears a safety harness attached to safety lines and flies over a huge air mat. Our instructors demonstrate and guide each student through the different techniques that allow you to fly on the trapeze. As you progress, you will learn new tricks. One instructor will help you on the platform, and another will hold your safety lines from the ground. When you are ready, we will introduce you to a third instructor who will catch you mid-air!
Please wear comfortable clothing (soft, stretchy pants and a snug fitting T-shirt, or tank top). No shorts, jeans, jewelery or hairpieces should be worn. Please tie long hair back with a hair band.

Noe and Ivan España
Noe and Ivan España are the sons of a circus legacy, the fifth generation heirs to an incredible array of España circus talent and history. In the true circus tradition, they are the product of family training and development, much of it taking place in the spotlight before live audiences.
The Españas began performing as young children in their uncle's Krony Circus in Mexico. Their talents found initial expression on the trampoline, where at an early age each had mastered the double and triple somersaults, and triple twisting somersaults. Even before their teens, they had begun practicing to join the family's flying trapeze act, and by the end of their teens, they were accomplished stars. The rest is history, from important bookings with Circus Atayde in Mexico, at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen and at the Sydney Opera House to featured status with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, a prominent appearance in the Lear Levin-Walt Disney Pictures production "Circus," and a Silver Clown award for their performance on the flying trapeze at the International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo and the 2007 STREB Action Maverick Award. The range of their repertoire has grown to include everything from the exquisitely graceful bungee trapeze to signature performances on the giant Skywheel and in the motorcycle Globe of Death.
Now themselves at the helm of their own action entertainment company,
IN-Entertainment, Noe and Ivan have carried their fascination with presentation, style, and dangerous motion to new levels with their spectacular seventy-minute production, España Extreme, a blend of innovative, cutting edge circus, and extreme sports, with brilliant costuming, dramatic state-of-the-art apparatus, riveting contemporary music, and high-tech lighting and pyrotechnics.
