KIDS ClAsses
STREB’s mission is to support, perform, and share widely the work of choreographer Elizabeth Streb. Built around Streb’s organizing principle “Extreme Action,” a movement style that thrills participants, audiences and students with choreographed feats of physicality, scientifically planned chaos, strength, risk, grace, and elegance, STREB actively engages with, ensures inclusion of, and advances cultural equity for its diverse staff, audiences and communities. This is achieved via a broad range of performance, engagement and education programming that provides access to, and participation in, creation and presentation.

field trips
Elementary, middle and high school classes, university and community groups come to SLAM for an immersive experience that introduces participants to all things SLAM — open rehearsals, discussion with company members, behind-the-scenes tech tours and classes in PopAction technique and circus arts and popcorn!
Arrange a group visit to a STREB EXTREME ACTION rehearsal. All Company rehearsals are free and open to the public, but a group visit can be arranged to also include a focused conversation with Elizabeth Streb and the Action Heroes where your group will get a peek into the creative process.

in-school residencies
Each year, STREB collaborates with schools and community groups both at their homes and at SLAM to design programs that encourage participants to explore, exchange, create and connect.
Semester and year-long residencies allow students to participate in weekly sessions in school—scaffolding on a dance or a physical education curriculum—with a team of STREB Action Heroes. School residencies may culminate in a field trip or a performance for peers, teachers and families.
This program is supported, in part, by the New York State Council of the Arts with the support of the office of the governor and the New York state legislature.
